There are those who style homes—and then there’s Steve Cordony. A master of atmosphere and mood, the Sydney-based interior stylist and creative director has become a defining figure in the Australian design scene. Known for his work as Style Director-at-Large for Belle magazine and his covetable content across social media, Cordony occupies a rare space in the interiors world: both aesthete and entertainer, romantic and realist, creative and curator.

His career began in the editorial world, where he quickly rose through the ranks at Belle and WISH, shaping the visual narratives that would become signature to both publications. His talent for storytelling—through color, composition, and an almost cinematic sense of detail—quickly drew the attention of global brands. Dior Maison, Gucci, Jo Malone, and Ralph Lauren have all tapped him to translate their visual language into something local, layered, and unmistakably Cordony.

But Cordony’s influence extends far beyond the glossy pages. Through immersive styling masterclasses, private commissions, and a near-million-strong Instagram following, he’s built a highly engaged creative community that turns to him not just for visual inspiration, but for a philosophy: design as emotion, elegance, and environment. In early 2025, Cordony released his debut book, Moments at Home: Interior Inspiration for Every Room—an intimate, richly photographed invitation into his world of meaningful, soulful spaces. The book distills years of experience into a guide that’s both aspirational and approachable, filled with practical tips and painterly visuals.

Still, perhaps his most personal canvas is Rosedale Farm, a restored 1877 estate in rural New South Wales that he shares with partner Michael Booth. It’s become something of a design pilgrimage—part retreat, part content studio, part masterclass in how to live beautifully. At Rosedale, limestone and velvet coexist with candlelight and fresh-cut branches, and every room holds the kind of tactile memory only time can make.

In this edition of The Dream List, Cordony shares the ideas, places, and objects that inspire his world: a fantasy villa in Italy, a trunk he waited years to own, and a scent that grounds him in the middle of it all.
