THE DREAM LIST (27) // THE BROWNSTONE BOYS
Inside the Vision of Jordan & Barry: Where Preservation Meets Bold, Modern Design
Jordan and Barry are the creative minds behind some of the most thoughtful and striking home restorations in Brooklyn. Their journey into design started with their own 130-year-old brownstone, a space they painstakingly restored while documenting the process. What began as a personal passion project quickly evolved into a full-fledged design practice, earning them a reputation for their ability to merge old-world charm with modern livability.
Over the years, they’ve tackled more than 25 projects, expanded to a team of seven, and even authored a book, For the Love of Renovating. Their work is deeply rooted in honoring the past—uncovering hidden details, preserving craftsmanship, and breathing new life into homes that have stood for generations. But they’re not afraid to take risks either, layering in bold color, unexpected materials, and contemporary touches to create spaces that feel both timeless and fresh.
We sat down with them to chat about their inspirations, biggest design lessons, and what makes a house a home.
