Step into the world of Enis Karavil, the visionary interior architect behind Istanbul’s Sanayi313.
For this installment of The Dream List, we step into the world of Enis Karavil, the visionary interior architect behind Istanbul’s Sanayi313. Known for his philosophy of "maximalist expressions in minimalist details," Enis's approach to design bridges cultures, time periods, and artistic disciplines. With an innate ability to blend modern sensibilities with deep-rooted influences from his Turkish heritage, Enis has crafted spaces that feel both timeless and progressive.
Enis Karavil is an interior architect based in Istanbul. After earning a degree in economics at Bentley University in Massachusetts, he pursued his passion for design at the Inchbald School of Design in London. His early experiences included time at the Victoria & Albert Museum and the London Design Festival, where he honed his appreciation for historical and contemporary aesthetics. In 2015, he founded Sanayi313, a design studio known for its immersive interiors and finely curated objects. His work has earned multiple accolades, including being named Interior Architect of the Yearby Edida – Elle Decoration in 2018 and by Maison Française in 2022.
Sanayi313, the multidisciplinary design studio he founded in 2015, is more than just an interior design firm—it is a lifestyle brand that brings together architecture, art, furniture, and fashion under one creative vision. His work seamlessly integrates rich textures, intricate craftsmanship, and contemporary aesthetics, setting a new standard in modern luxury. The studio’s projects range from high-end residences to hospitality spaces, each reflecting Enis’s signature balance of elegance and eclecticism. His ability to reinterpret historical references into fresh, bold statements has earned him widespread acclaim, including being named Interior Architect of the Year by Edida – Elle Decoration in 2018 and by Maison Française in 2022.
When asked about the space of his dreams, Enis immediately points to La Colombe d'Or Hotel, a place that perfectly captures his love for artistry, history, and hospitality. For him, design is about evoking emotion, and there’s something about the atmosphere of the legendary hotel that makes it an endless source of inspiration.
Enis has a keen eye for iconic design, and his favorite chair—the Gaulino Chair by Oscar Tusquets from 1987—is a testament to his appreciation for sculptural, timeless forms. Similarly, his choice of scent, Diptyque Baies, reflects his preference for understated yet evocative elements in both personal and spatial design.
