THE DREAM LIST (18) // FERNANDO GARCIA
The Oscar de la Renta and Monse creative director on the spaces, places, and things that bring him inspiration.
On today’s edition of THE DREAM LIST, we have celebrated designer and the creative force behind brands such as Oscar de la Renta and Monse, Fernando Garcia.
Garcia's artistic path began with a background in architecture from the University of Notre Dame. His pivot to fashion was serendipitous yet fitting, marked by an internship under the legendary Oscar de la Renta, where his innate talent quickly flourished. Over the years, Garcia rose to senior designer at the iconic fashion house, where he learned to merge craftsmanship with emotional storytelling.
In 2015, alongside Laura Kim, he co-founded Monse, a label that captured attention with its innovative, deconstructed designs. Their creative synergy and passion led them back to Oscar de la Renta in 2016 as co-creative directors, where they have since revitalized the brand with collections that exude sophistication and modernity. Garcia's work spans ready-to-wear, bridal, and accessories, always aiming to make women feel both empowered and glamorous. His ethos—rooted in joy, collaboration, and emotional resonance—remains at the heart of his visionary designs, earning him global acclaim.
With his innovative approach and relentless pursuit of beauty, Fernando Garcia continues to redefine contemporary fashion, blending architecture, art, and personal memories into every design he touches. For him, spaces, objects, and experiences transcend their function, becoming conduits of creativity and emotion.
